Hi everybody! We got home last night at about 6pm. The boys surprised me with a homemade pink cake (what great kids!).
It looks like I have 2 scars...one for the lump, and one for the lymph node (so they could sample for cancer). I also have this drain that I'm not exactly fond of. I have no restriction on movement and can move my left arm with only a little pain. I think I should be ok to teach on Tuesday.
Except for slight pain under my left arm, and occasional nausea, I feel normal - much better than I expected I would feel. I love that the cancer is out and that it wasn't found in the lymph nodes. My anxiety is down for the first time in weeks. What an ordeal. Thanks for all the love you have sent our way!

I was waiting to hear about the surgery. I was going to call if I didn't see this update. Wahooooooo! It's out! I'm so happy to know that the cancer hadn't spread--great news! We're leaving Wed., 2 nights in Las Vegas, and on to Chino Hills on Friday, so I'll talk with you (& see you) soon. Susan
ReplyDeleteMarie,
ReplyDeleteI am so very glad to know that the surgery went so well and that it was good news in regards to the lymph nodes. I hope you are getting lots of rest. Please take as much time as you need to recoup, though of course the kids will miss you and want you back;) Rest, rest, rest and take in all the TLC you can get....you certainly deserve it!
Big hugs to you from the Shermans!!!
love, Karyl
PS I just thought the pink cake was the best, especially from your boys!!!
Stay down and let everyone take care of you. The quickest way to recovery is to take it easy! I wouldn't lie to you! Drink lots,(wink, wink)and make sure to laugh!
ReplyDeleteYea! This is such great news!! And, back on Tuesday...you are crazy!! Rest, relax and make sure you are fully recovered before you return to work! The kids will understand. :) Take care, Jennie Volkert
ReplyDeleteDear Marie,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the update! I am so grateful and relieved to hear how well you are doing and to know you are breathing a bit easier. You have a LARGE community of friends who love you and are very invested in your progress. We all appreciate your willingness to be so open in sharing your experience with us. If you are determined to go to school Tuesday I am sending Brooke in to help wrangle the kids so put her to work!
As for Kyle and Corey... Your boys have ALWAYS been amazing, responsible and dignified young men so the pink cake does not surprise us but it is one more thing that has impressed us over the years! You and Terry have so much to be thankful for and PROUD of!
We Love You!
